American Idol Kris Allen Turns Bigfoot Hunter

Just read that country singer/songwriter and season 8 American Idol winner, Kris Allen, will participate in a Bigfoot search in West Virginia as part of an "Animal Planet" television project.

Claiming to have had many encounters with Bigfoot since childhood, Allen was asked by Animal Planet producer, Natalie Hewson, to provide leads on where they might stand the best chance at encountering a Sasquatch.

The hunt will take place in an undisclosed forest area in Greenbrier County, WV. They are keeping the project location under wraps to avoid the possibility of a hoaxer rambling through the area.

This comment by Allen struck me as humorous, "Woods in West Virginia are so dense its hard for a creature to run without running into trees.

He also goes on to mention various Bigfoot species, including the most common (according to Allen) called "Dogface." This creature, with distinct canine facial features (see Hunting the American Werewolf, The Beast of Bray Road: Tailing Wisconsin's Werewolf (Ohio), or The Michigan Dogman: Werewolves and Other Unknown Canines Across the U.S.A. (Unexplained Presents).

Being involved and interested in Bigfoot for so many years, it's funny that I never heard of a dogfaced Bigfoot as the most common variety. Maybe they are the most common in West Virginia. In my opinion, the dogfaced critter, Dogman, or whatever you want to call him, shows up a lot later in the Bigfoot timeline and can't possibly be considered the most common.

There was one New Jersey sighting that always intrigued me though, of a wolf-like creature who ran upright on two legs across a country road somewhere in western New Jersey, carrying a deer carcass.

To further bolster his Squatcher rep, Allen goes on to talk about his adventures while camping, having rocks and logs thrown at him by unknown creatures in the woods, screaming and yelling, and garbled vocalizations. It will be interesting to see how this show turns out.
