Rick Dyer Posts Photo of Alleged Dead Bigfoot

"Professional Bigfoot Hunter," Rick Dyer, has released a photo of what he claims to be a Bigfoot he shot and killed. I'm not going to hold my breath, and I suggest you don't either. Smell if for what it is. Hey, this creature doesn't even look remotely like the creature Dyer claimed was the slain Bigfoot he would reveal in August of 2013. That never happened, and now we have this. But then, what should we really expect? BT Barnum was a bullshitter, but at least he made it worthwhile entertainment.

As well as looking a lot like the Heat Miser from The Year Without a Santa Claus, the Bigfoot in Dyer's photo looks a lot like a latex rubber cast with crepe hair glued on. It's got some personality though! An okay job to be sure, I won't knock it, but it is not a real creature. It is a quick sculpt done relatively inexpensively I would guess.

I'm not an expert but I do have some experience sculpting, casting and creating latex masks. I've posted a few pictures here as examples. It is a werewolf mask I created for Halloween 2013, from clay to rubber. It really didn't take that long, maybe 18 hours total.

Keep in mind that all we are seeing here is the face. Dyer has not revealed a full head or a body of this creature. Two possibilities: he is not going to reveal anything more because he has no real intention of pursuing it, or the artist he hired is still finishing up the rest of the creature and we'll see more soon.

There are plenty of talented people who can produce something like this relatively inexpensively; students or hobbyists who would produce a sculpture, make a mold of it, cast the rubber, paint it up and affix synthetic hair.

This has all of the telltale tooling marks of a relatively quick, low budget sculpt. Telltale sheen of paint on latex too. But then, what do I know, I never saw a dead Sasquatch, or a live one for that matter!

In my opinion, and the opinion of many people around the web, this is a hoax. Is there really any question?
